[Whitepaper] 7 Reasons Why Micro-segmentation…

Like any industry transition, software-defined storage will take several years to be fully realized. But even at this early stage, the “genetic code” behind this new approach to storage is becoming better understood. While we will certainly see variations on a core theme, the essence behind software-defined storage serves to differentiate it from other forms. As software-defined storage grows and matures, this blueprint has the ability to change how we think about storage: both as a standalone discipline and as part of an integrated software-defined data center.

vSphere 6.0 Update 2 – What’s New

VMware just recently released Update 2 for vSphere 6.0. Update 2 is full of new features and bug fixes for both ESXi and vCenter Server. For a complete list of features and bug fixes make sure to review the release notes for ESXi and vCenter Server. There are few features that stood out to me in this update. The Embedded Host Client is now integrated into ESXi and fully supported as of Update 2. VSAN 6.2 is feature rich with everything but the kitchen sink in this release. Two factor authentication support for the vSphere Web Client is now available in the PSC UI. Here’s a breakdown of what’s new in vSphere 6.0 Update 2.

vSphere Client error : An internal error occurred in vSphere Client Details An item with the same key has already been added

August 23, 2012 1 comment

This morning when I opened my vSphere client I had this pop-up error message displaying:

I did some research and found this VMware KB: 2030029 but the solution says to disable the VMware Update Manager Plug-in. Solution???

So to fix my issue and keep the plug-in I had to remove my windows profile from the machine running the vSphere client and re-create it.

Scenario: vCenter 5.0, vSphere client 5 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Tip: Adding the ESX/ESXi host to an Active Directory domain fails with the error: Errors in Active Directory operations

VMware KB: Adding the ESX/ESXi host to an Active Directory domain fails with the error: Errors in Active Directory operations.

Another tip is to put the domain name in CAPS. It worked like a charm for me.

When using the domain name in lower case the process was very slow with a lot of errors.
